Liz Hara
Liz Hara is a writer, builder, and puppeteer. She and her team won the 2015 Emmy Award for their Costume Design on Sesame Street. She currently works for Sesame as a puppet builder and wrangler, and began writing for the show in Season 46. She has written other children’s entertainment for Nickelodeon and PBS, including the new science curriculum show Nature Cat.
Liz creates her own work, which has been presented at the Edinburgh Comedy Festival, the New Orleans Fringe Festival, the National Puppetry Festival, and theaters across the U.S. Her family show, Help Save the Monkey!, created with Marta Mozelle MacRostie, was awarded a 2014 Jim Henson Foundation Family Grant. She is currently developing a new adult puppetry play through the Jim Henson Residency at the Eugene O’Neill Theatre Center.
Liz has built puppets and costumes for Mirror Mirror (Miramax, 2012,) Avenue Q, The Lion King, and Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark. Liz also performs as a puppeteer for film and television, and has toured internationally with Wakka Wakka’s stage production of SAGA.
